Hospital Patient Care Assistant

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Hospital Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to join our healthcare team. The PCA will provide direct patient care, assist medical staff, and ensure a comfortable and safe environment for patients. The ideal candidate should have strong interpersonal skills, be empathetic, and be able to work efficiently in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

1. Patient Care & Assistance

  • Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Provide mobility support, including helping patients move in and out of beds, wheelchairs, and stretchers.
  • Support patients with feeding and hydration, ensuring dietary needs are met.

2. Medical & Health Monitoring

  • Measure and record vital signs, such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
  • Observe and report changes in patients’ conditions to nurses and doctors.
  • Assist in basic medical procedures, such as wound care and specimen collection.

3. Emotional & Social Support

  • Provide companionship and reassurance to patients during their stay.
  • Help reduce patient anxiety by offering emotional support and clear communication.
  • Assist in engaging patients in light physical or mental activities as recommended by healthcare professionals.

4. Hospital Environment & Safety

  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in patient rooms and common areas.
  • Follow hospital infection control protocols and ensure a sanitary environment.
  • Assist in transporting patients within the hospital for tests, procedures, or discharges.

5. Documentation & Compliance

  • Accurately document patient care activities and report any concerns to the healthcare team.
  • Adhere to hospital policies, safety regulations, and patient confidentiality standards.
  • Ensure proper handling of medical supplies and equipment.
Qualifications

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a certified nursing assistant (CNA) or PCA training program is preferred.
  • Certification: CPR and First Aid certification (preferred).
  • Experience: [Specify required experience, e.g., 1+ years in a hospital or patient care setting].
  • Skills:
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Empathy and patience in handling patients with different medical needs.
    • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and assisting patients.
    • Basic knowledge of healthcare and hospital procedures.
